Where blues and soul meet the Carolina foothills, you’ll find Allyn Raney: an old-school old-soul with a passion for music that feels authentic.

Allyn grew up playing music, from the piano lessons she hated in first grade, to online banjo lessons in Minnesota, first chair performances as a violist in school, and the occasional choir or theatre show. But it wasn’t until the COVID pandemic and an excess of free time that Allyn picked up the guitar — and fell in love. She started performing in October 2023 and never looked back.

Some might say her soul belongs in another decade. With her long hair and bell-bottoms, she might look like she does, too. Allyn’s voice is often compared by fans to the great female artists of the last century, like Janis Joplin and Bonnie Raitt. She likes to call her style soulful Americana, and, as she says, it’s the sweet spot: a perfect blend of the music you love most and the bluesy, soulful, laid-back style that she does best.

When it comes to writing, Allyn is heavily influenced by country music and loves a good story. As she has grown as a songwriter, she is constantly searching for stories and sounds that feel lived in and real.

In the first three years of performing, Allyn played almost 400 shows across the region, ranging from intimate solo shows to full band productions. In 2027, she is hitting the road with her first-ever solo tour and will be traveling across the country promoting a late-May EP release.
